January Update: New Filters, PDF Export, and Client Notifications in Our Interior Design Software
At thesheet, we believe that great tools should adapt to how you work, not the other way around. That's why we're kicking off 2025 with three powerful updates that work together to make your project management smoother than ever: customisable filtering, PDF exports, and client notifications.
Each of these features emerged from conversations with interior designers like you, who shared their daily challenges and workflow needs. Let's dive into how these new capabilities can transform your project management.
What's new in January
As we dive into the new year, it’s essential for interior designers to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and tools in the industry. This January, we’re excited to introduce several updates that promise to enhance your interior design projects and streamline your workflow.
See your interior projects, your way with advanced filtering
Every designer has their own way of working through a project. Some tackle it room by room, others prefer to focus on specific product categories, and many switch between these approaches as needed. Our new filtering system supports all these workflows and more. It helps manage complex projects by keeping all details organised.
Here’s what you can do with our enhanced filtering:
Filter by status: Focus on what needs attention by filtering for draft, proposed, or approved items
Category-specific views: Zero in on specific product types like furniture, lighting, or finishes
Space-based organisation: View products for specific rooms or areas individually
Supplier-specific lists: Create filtered views showing products from particular vendors
Multiple filter combinations: Combine filters for highly specific views (e.g., pending furniture items for the living room)
The filtering system can streamline the design process by allowing designers to focus on specific aspects of their projects. Whether you’re managing a large commercial project or a focused residential renovation, you can now structure your view to match your workflow. Once you’ve finalised all finishes, for example, filter them out to focus solely on furniture selection.

The new filters give you all the freedom you need
Export to PDF: Bridge the digital-physical divide
While we're passionate about digital spec sheets, we know there are times when you need a physical document. Maybe your client prefers to review designs with pen in hand, or perhaps you need a reliable reference sheet on a construction site where internet access is spotty. Our new PDF export feature works seamlessly with your filtered views to create exactly the documentation you need.
Here's what makes it special:
One-click export: Generate professional-quality spec sheets directly from your filtered project view
Smart formatting: Choose between portrait and landscape orientations to best showcase your products
Flexible customisation: Create different versions for different stakeholders using filters
High-resolution images: Your carefully curated product images are preserved in crisp detail
Complete product details: All specifications, prices, and notes are formatted for maximum readability

Keep all the alternatives in the PDFs – or use filters to not show them in Export
Getting started is simple:
Open your project in Sheet view
Apply any desired filters
Click the three dots menu in the top right
Select "Export to PDF"
Preview and save your spec sheet

Adjust your filters and just click Export
Stay in the loop with client notifications
Sometimes the best features come directly from our users' experiences. When Paola Castillo from Own Space Interiors mentioned her challenge of repeatedly checking projects after sending client links, we knew we had to help. "It would be great to get a notification to know when clients had updated or made comments on the project," she told us. "That way, I wouldn't have to keep triple-checking after sending the client link."
We took this feedback to heart, and now we're excited to introduce client notifications. You'll receive instant alerts whenever:
Clients approve products
Clients reject items
Clients leave comments on products
Any other significant client interactions occur

Never miss client feedback
The notification system is both powerful and unobtrusive:
A subtle blue dot appears on the notification bell when you have unread updates
Click any notification to jump directly to the relevant product
Easily mark notifications as read or manage your notification preferences
Toggle notifications on/off as needed
Making the most of these spec sheet features together
These three updates work together to create a more streamlined workflow: Using interior design spec sheets and FF&E schedules is essential to keep projects organised and efficient.
Use filters to organise your project view
Export to PDF to share that exact view with stakeholders
Receive notifications when clients review and respond
For example, you might:
Filter for all pending living room furniture
Export that specific view for a focused client review
Receive notifications as the client provides feedback on each piece
Looking ahead
These January updates represent another step toward our goal of making thesheet the most comprehensive tool for interior designers. We're already working on additional features and improvements based on your feedback.
We're just getting started
While these three features headline our January update, we have more improvements in the pipeline. We’re continuously working to make thesheet more intuitive and powerful, always guided by your real-world needs and experiences. The role of the interior designer in creating detailed documents is crucial to ensure project success, as these documents aid in quality control and clear communication among project managers, designers, and contractors.
As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts on these new features. How are you combining filters with PDF exports? Has the notification system changed how you interact with clients? Schedule a quick 15-minute call with our team to share your feedback and ideas.
